3D Print | Tinker Cad




this week our assigned groups switched over to a 3d printer. we could design models in 3d software and then print them out to a very accurate depiction. we used a software called tinker cad. this software was based on prebuilt figures to make a object

craft

i used pre built figures to build a sort of theme park. it featured a ferris wheel, a race track, a pyramid maze and a slide.

concept
i was tasked with designing a city block type of object. we measured out dimensions to make them compatible with our other group members pieces. we measured in increments that 1/8in = 1 story. i had a recreational zone which meant the buildings ranged from 1- 4 stories.

composition
all of the elements fit together in a square. this square represented the city block of a said city.

craft/concept/compostion craft: after the cut of the trophy and assembled it, sanded it, and painted it .then we set a thin layer of glaze over the surface to give it a nice coat and to protect it. concept: the trophy stands sturdy and has a slight shine to it. its a piece that can easily fit on a shelf or cabinet in a house. its a decently small size. the base in 4x2 inches and the trophy logo stands 6 inches tall. composition: the way i set up the trophy was to have the base be smaller than the logo. I wanted people to see the logo first then the base. The base holds the information of what the award stands for and also the name of the person who will receive it.

week 2

craft / concept / composition  made a box to test the lazer cut with a simple design.  concept: the second week we had to show that we knew how to make a simple box using the materials of the class. I designed a simple box with a simple cut out design on a single face of the cube. The idea was to transform an 2d image and design into a 3d interact-able object in real space. the cube came out perfect. craft: in order to piece the cube together I used a tab system in which the cubes sides either: stuck out, or caved in. each piece fit a different side, similar to a puzzle. i glued the sides together for extra protection using wood glue.  composition: the cube is set up to take up real world space. i placed a design on one of the faces to create an opening to see through the cube.
